2010's MAMA Winners

The winners of tonights Mnet Asian Music Awards were somewhat surprising, but not to be unexpected. Some winners beat out obvious favourites, and some favourites weren’t even nominated. SM boycotted MAMA and in return? No SM artists won, and several weren’t even nominated for certain awards.

However, many of the winners are deserving, and they are as follows…

Artist of the Year: 2NE1
Album of the Year: 2NE1 (To Anyone)
Song of the Year: miss A (Bad Girl, Good Girl)

Best Female Group
: 2NE1
Best Male Group: 2PM

2010 Female Rookie Award:
miss A
2010 Male Rookie Award: Cancelled by Mnet due to nominees being absent

Best Solo Vocal Performance: Gummy (Because You’re A Man)
Best Group Vocal Performance: Cancelled by Mnet due to nominees being absent
Best Male Solo Singer: Taeyang
Best Collaboration
: Cancelled by Mnet due to nominees being absent

Best Asian Artist: Zhang Jie
Best Asian New Artist: iMe
Best Asian Pop Artist: Perfume

International Artist: Far East Movement

Best Digital Single
: Park Bom (You And I)
Best Music Video: 2NE1 (Can’t Nobody)

Best Dance Performance (Male Group): 2PM (I’ll Be Back)
Best Dance Performance (Female Group): miss A (Bad Girl, Good Girl)
Best Solo Dance Performance: Rain (The Song To Make You Stay)

Best Rap Performance: DJ DOC (I’m This Kind Of Person)

The Shilla Duty-Free Asian Wave Award: 2PM

It was an amazing award show, and whoever missed it really should just give up! With some amazing performances from all our favourite artists (excluding SM artists), someone described it as a JYG Concert! And it was, with 2NE1, Taeyang, G-Dragon, T.O.P, Gummy, miss A, 2PM, and Wonder Girls performing a medley of their greatest hits. They ripped up the stage and held some of the best performances of their careers!

Congratulations to all winners!

And despite all worries and concerns, the 2010 MAMAs were successful!

P.S. 3 Awards CANCELLED by @MnetMAMA due to nominees being absent. Best Male Rookie, Best Vocal Perf (Group) and Best Collaboration.

Twitter: A Translation, LMK-Style, With 2AM’s Changmin November 11, 2010

Okay, I’ve never translated anything to do with KPOP before, simply because I can barely speak a word of Korean. However, when 2AM‘s Changmin twittered a really easy, elementary update in Japanese, I finally got my chance.

He wrote:

日本語のべんきょうはむずかしいがおもしろいです( ̄^ ̄)ゞ

And then I was like, “yeah baby, two years of Japanese beginners classes have finally paid off!” And translated (word for word, really):

Studying Japanese is hard, but it’s interesting -.-‘

Although, I’m pretty sure that if he had a greater grasp of Japanese he would have written something along the lines of: “I’m currently studying Japanese and it’s so hard! However, it’s really interesting, so I’m gonna’ stick with it. Fighting!”

My life is now complete!

Music News: BIG BANG Members Are Backup Dancers For 2NE1 In ‘Clap Your Hands?’ September 12, 2010

Rumours are spreading like wildfire that popular boy band, Big Bang are indeed the male backup dancers shown in 2NE1’s comeback MV, ‘Clap Your Hands.’ There is no credibility to this claim yet, but fans of both 2NE1 and Big Bang alike are desperate to find out.

And you know, it is plausible. It is well-known that YG artists support each other and are often featured or cameo in each others MV’s on songs. Also, remember that crazy guy dancing behind Minzy in Fire (Street)? Yeah, well that was G-Dragon. So, who’s to say that it’s not?
