LMK Update: I’m Back, Baby!

This has everything to do with point 4., so until you read that point, this is for your collective viewing pleasure. Super Junior performing ‘No Other’ live.

P.S., I was like, ‘oh, Sungmin went blonde?’ But then I realised it wasn’t him. Then I thought ‘what the hell is Dongwoon doing in a SUJU performance, too weird… or maybe it’s a backup dancer… but they have 10 active members, why the hell do they need any backup dancers?’ I paused on his face and after completing the strenuous process of elimination I was like, ‘Oh! It’s Heechul!’ Nice. Just thought I’d share some good times! If I had just watched the whole thing through I would have realised who it was when Heechul does his solo bit. Sigh.

P.P.S., Yesung was really cute during the ‘No Other’ promotions. Ryeowook too. And Sungmin and Ryeowook are just too cute in this vid during the ‘Sorry, Sorry’ part. So, yeah… 😉

I’m finally back! And sadly, during my hiatus period, I’ve kind of lost my obsession with KPOP. Do I still love it? Of course! I don’t think I could ever stop loving KPOP music and Idols, but I’ve become more sensible. I’m barely on other KPOP sites like Koreaboo, seoulbeats, allkpop, etc. I keep up to date via Twitter, and it’s much easier and less time consuming. However, there are a few things I’d like to get off my chest when it comes to this past month, about KPOP.

1. Does anyone else think CO-ED‘s ‘Bbiribbom Bberibbom’ sounds an awful lot like Lady Gaga‘s ‘Telephone’? I mean, it’s so damn obvious. The chorus just rips off probably one of the most popular pop songs of the 2000s! Like, seriously, did they really think that they could perform a song that sounds suspiciously similar to Gaga’s Telephone and not get some flak? Of course, there are CO-ED fans out there who think that the KPOP group did not, in fact, rip off Gaga‘s ‘Telephone,’ and that the songs sound nothing alike! There are even some fans who went as far as to say that Gaga copied CO-ED, and is ripping off Asian style. Now come on, Gaga may not be my favourite pop artist out there, but get real.

Sigh. Personally, I think that whoever produced and wrote ‘Bbiribbom Bberibbom’ is/are pretty stupid. Like come on. Are you serious? And the worst part? I really don’t think that CO-ED will get accused of plagiarism because the song just sounds too similar. Because really, who is stupid enough to rip off an extremely famous song without even trying to mess around with it a little? Sheesh.

2. SNSD are back in our lives with ‘Hoot.’ Okay, I’m not going to lie, I’m unimpressed. 2010 has seen the releases of ‘Oh’ and ‘Run Devil Run,’ and also the Japanese versions of ‘Genie’ and ‘Gee’ and they were/are catchier than ‘Hoot.’ And seriously, ‘Hoot’? What kind of title… whatever.

What I liked: the chorus and… okay, that’s really it. And maybe Seohyun’s lines.

What I didn’t like: Sunny’s lips (what the hell is going on there?), Tiffany’s outfit (it looks like she’s wearing sparkly boxers), and Sooyoung (her face looks odd to me, and it’s either that she’s lost a lot of weight, or she’s gone under the knife. Either way, she needs to put on weight, I think she’d just look sexier. I really thought we were moving away from thinking model-skinny-aka-bones is attractive).

What I think: The song would have been better only as an audio release, rather than a MV release. I think watching the clip just ruined the song for me, and from now on I’m just going to be listening to it, rather than watching it (which is unheard of for me). And another major point: Siwon needs a bigger gun!

This whole MV just reminded me of Wonder Girls. Also, I think SME needs to work a different angle for SNSD, I think that they’re just over-exploiting the girls’ legs. For me, their legs are losing their sexiness.

3. Since when did 2NE1 release a new song? I just happened across it when I was watching random Super Junior vids. How creepy is that?

I’ve got to say that ‘It Hurts’ is now my least favourite 2NE1 song, pushing ‘Lollipop’ up a spot. Although, maybe I’ll get used to it. It reminds me of Taeyang‘s ‘I’ll Be There’ and I didn’t like that song when I first heard it, but I grew to like it. However, it might take a while for it to grow on me, because I really don’t like the song, audio or MV. I remember listening to the song ages ago when 2NE1 fans were complaining about how releasing 3 high charged songs with a slow song like ‘It Hurts’ would have been better. And I also remembering listening to ‘It Hurts’ and thinking ‘thank God they didn’t MV-release this song!’ But they did, and I take back my thanks.

Currently my least favourite 2NE1 song and new release of any KPOP group, including 2PM‘s ‘I’ll Be Back.’

4. I finally like Super Junior‘s ‘No Other’! Finally! I can’t say that it’s my favourite ‘Bonamana’ song, but it is definately not my least favourite (Haengbok Happiness anyone?). I remember cursing the song to kingdom come when it came out, but I’ve decided that I like it now. Upon hearing this, my friend has started trying to covert me to become a SHINee ‘Hello’ supporter, but that song still makes me want to kill magicians (Onew just looks like one to me, thus my homicidal fantasies).

Super Junior and SHINee released two fast paced, sexy songs, ‘Bonamana’ and ‘Lucifer,’ respectively, and then released two annoying, follow up, pop songs, ‘No Other’ and ‘Hello,’ also respectively. And the decision to do that still makes me want to rip out my hair.

5. And last but not least, SHINee‘s Jonghyun has a girlfriend.

Who cares.

Like, I’m sure that there are thousands of rabid fangirls out there currently planing her assassination, but come on, it was bound to happen. JH is a lively guy who likes to enjoy life, it was only a matter of time before he got a girlfriend. I really think that a lot of fangirls are just angry that he came out and said ‘hey, I’ve got a girl,’ instead of keeping it secret. Because, I think fangirls would ‘look the other way’ if he had a rumoured girlfriend, but the moment he told the truth they suddenly feel betrayed.
